The Low Energy Ion Beam Facility at the

Justus-Liebig Universität Giessen, Germany

EU Network LEIF

It is the aim of this EU network (HPRI-CT-1999-40012) to coordinate the activities and co-operation of 8 low energy ion beam facilities located in 7 different European countries and to improve the ease of accessibility and the quality of services offered to external user research groups.

Our research in Giessen currently focuses on three areas:

For ECR source development two test beam lines with complete beam diagnostic facilities are available. These beam lines are available to external users for general experiments. The ion-ion and electron-ion collision experiments also use ECR sources for the production of the ion beams. Here, external users can be accommodated also within the restricted frame work of these experiments.
